MarketingMonger Moves to Jenerous.com

All,

It's been a great run of interviews at MarketingMonger.com. 113 of my 1,000 planned ones. But I felt it was time for a new home and thanks to the team at Big in Japan (an awesome social media tools and services company), I have a great one at Jenerous.com.

What does this mean for you? A better audio and visual experience. More new, interesting interviews.

You shouldn't have to do much with the move. I'll be moving the RSS feed over to source from Jenerous.com. Email subscribers may get an email asking for approval of the new subscription. If you want to update any links from MM to Jenerous.com that would be great.

I hope you check out the new site. I'd love you thoughts. Feel free to send a friend or two over so they can join the community.

Thanks for coming on the first phase of this adventure. I hope you enjoy the next 887 interviews as well.

MarketingMonger Podcast #112 - Matt Blumberg of Return Path

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Email marketing is huge even in the age of social media and RSS. Why? Because it works.

For my 112th podcast interview, I doubled-back to chat again with Matt Blumberg of Return Path. In the first interview last year, we chatted about feeds, email marketing mistakes and his entrepreneurial advice. This time, we delved into the realm of email reputation - what it is, why it's important and how to manage it.

Enjoy:

Social Media Invades the Inc. 500

I'm excited to announce the results of my second research project with Nora Barnes of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's Center for Marketing Research. The project is a detailed study of the adoption and usage of social media by the Inc. 500, an elite group of fast-growing private companies. Our research revealed that social media adoption among the companies is much higher than many predicted and certainly much higher than the Fortune 500.

An executive summary of the research is available in PDF and MSWord. The full results will be published in several academic journals throughout 2007.

His book captures a series of lessons that he learned early in life working at his family's Dairy Queen that have served him well throughout his successful business career.

Bob and I had a great time chatting about the lessons in the book. My favorite is "taste the ice cream" which is similar to "eat your own dog food" but sounds a whole lot tastier.

I'm sorry for the lack of podcasts over the last several weeks. I've been busy with a variety of other projects - more academic research (the first article was a great success), some consulting, and a new blog.

I hope you're all doing well. I'll be putting a new podcast up later today.

A multitude of my web design and user interface friends told me that I absolutely had to do an interview with him. Why, you might ask?

Because he's off-the-charts good at what he does - interface and product design. Currently, he's the principal designer for Yahoo's social media efforts, running his own highly-regarded design firm, writing one of the leading blogs in the space (Functioning Form), and lecturing frequently on topics related to the web and design.
